TEAMORIGIN - The Story So Far...

We take a close look at happenings so far for TEAMORIGIN, Great Britain's bid for the 33rd America's Cup.

It is this blog's intention to focus extensively on all things surrounding the 33rd America's Cup, and most especially on Great Britain's proposed bid to challenge for the Auld Mug, TEAMORIGIN. We had originally hoped to see the view from inside, but alas the team in its wisdom has thus far proved impenetrable - never mind, there's still plenty to consider.

In this, our first TEAMORIGIN edition, we recap on all the official announcements to date.

Timeline:

4/1/07 - Announcement: TEAMORIGIN launch at the Design Museum, London.

29/3/07 - Announcement: Appointment of Mike Sanderson as Team Director.

21/5/07 - Announcement: Purchase of Alinghi's SUI75 racing vessel (used for training and testing) - a prerequisite asset to qualify for America's Cup inclusion.

29/5/07 - Announcement: Main Partner to RYA's OnBoard, the association's scheme to promote sailing to young people in the UK.

25/6/07 - Announcement: Team to attend both Southampton (14-24/9/07) & London (11-20/1/08) boat shows.

28/6/07 - Announcement: Official representation of the Royal Thames Yacht Club - a formality to challenge for the America's Cup.
